I posted this question several months ago so now it's time for some follow-up. Who still has one of the early CZ P07's (maybe one of the first ones sold by Angus at the CZ Custom Shop) and has not returned it to CZ for any kind of repairs? I think Angus actually replaced the trigger springs on the first ones he shipped because there was a known problem. Other than the standard mag drop issues are there early models still out there functioning fine with no major issues or need for return?

I have a PO7 DUTY that i purchased back in Oct 2009 it is an early one that has the sticking mag issue- I have put 3000 rounds thru it with out any problems and it has not gone back to cz for anything. I don't care about the mag issue because I use this CZ for rotection at my shop and at home, I don"t want a mag dropping free if I inadvertently hit the mag release in a defensive situation. At this point the mags come out fairly nice. I train with this pistol every 2 weeks.I have not had a single malfunction. I did replace the plastic guide rod with a stainless rod from Steve Bedair-adds a little more weight up front and I think it allows for faster follow up shots. I also own a SPo1 polymer phantom, a pcr protek ,a Cz 75 SA Target and a CZ83 in 32 ACP. Of course the trigger can't compare with the triggers on my 2 guns from Angus's custom shop, but after 3 k rounds it has worn in nicely and is what I would expect and prefer in a combat pistol. I know I can count on this pistol in a life threating situation. Last just like any tool or piece of equipment it gets cleaned and lubed after every shooting session.

I just got over 1000 round mark and had no issues whatsoever. The only "issue" is that one mag is "sticky" and the other one is not, but that is not a problem for me. Extreme accuracy, and eats any 9mm ammo I fed it with (and some was really nasty). No FTF or FTE...it works like Singer sawing machine!

It's good to hear about your experiences. I have two that I purchased in the pre-sale from Angus and have not been able to shoot them extensively. I see the frame bulge but so far my mags drop free. I just tend to wonder if anyone else has these early models and hasn't really had much of a problem with them other than the minor mentioned things.

I've got one of Angus's pre-orders and it has nearly 1k rounds through it. It has a slight bulge that I'm not worried about and the mags don't drop free but I don't really care about that. It shoots everything I give it just fine.

I have one that I got shortly after they came out. Have not returned it as it has no issues. It has been 100% reliable and more accurate then a lot of guns I have shot. Still love it. I have a minor bulge but it has not been getting any bigger and does not appear to be affecting accuracy or reliability. I find that the mags just stick if the gun is cold out of the safe ofr the first minute or two, once you handle it a bit or wear it a while the mags drop free without any issues.

I recently purchased a P07 that apparently was sitting on the shelf awhile since it has an earlier SN. Not that many rounds through it but has thus far functioned flawlessly and have not returned it to CZ.
After reading about this mag release issue I started to second guess my decision to buy the P07 but after use and experimentation I've found some interesting things about the magazine release that I've adjusted too and actually like.
What I found is how the mag release functions is entirely dependent on how I grip the pistol. With my somewhat smallish hand gripping normally and reaching for the mag release with my thumb, the magazine consistently drops about 1 inch. If I shift the pistol slightly in my hand, trigger finger on the frame, middle finger on the bottom right side of the trigger guard and press the magazine release with my thumb, the magazine drops free every time. Though shifting the pistol in the palm of my hand is not the ideal, it's an action I'm generally used to. The curse of a short thumb.

I have any early one I bought used and have no trouble with it. I don't know if the previous owner had it worked on or not.

I had an early one, had issues, CZ sent a new one. The new one has issues too. First, the slide doesn't always lock into place after last round, but that may be an ammo issue. The second issue, the one I'm worried about, is that the slide is inconsistent when I reload. Sometimes when I put a mag in the slide goes forward automatically, sometimes it stays locked in place until I release with my thumb. Not super happy about it, especially because these are the same issues I had with my first P-07...

I had issues with mine not locking back at first. I think things were a little stiff new, and WWB (what I was shooting at the time) is underpowered to begin with. After the first 50 rounds, no issues since. You could also be bumping the release with your thumb when it recoils, keeping it from locking, if you use a thumbs-high hold (just a guess). If you do, try a different thumb position for a couple mags with only one round in them.
As for the 'automatic slide release' thing, it happens to 'most' semis. I know quite a few glocks that do it. Mine will do it if I try to falcon punch the mag in.

Same here.....if the gun is cold, the mags stick. If the gun is warm, the mags come flying out with authority!

I have an early one, and the mags stick whether it is hot or cold.
I've put <300 rounds through it. Last week, I put ~130 rounds through it, and got twice it failed to eject the fired round. I was using the infamous White Box ammo.

I purchased a new P-07 that has an 09 date imprint on it. My mags do stick hot or cold: sometimes dropping a quarter inch and sometimes not at all. Also, mine has the bulge on the right side of the weapon which is noticeable with the slide on. I haven't had any issues with the slide not locking back or anything else. I've put less than 500 rounds through it and not noticed any issues besides the mags sticking and now the bulge after reading this forum a bit. I guess I'll be giving CZ a call on my next day off. This is my first polymer gun and even though I haven't had any issues thus far, I am now hesitant to fire the weapon. Should I be?
